Bringing in 2024 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee
To kick off 2024, I took a trip to Gatlinburg, a charming mountain town known for its breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains. It’s the perfect spot for both staycations and vacations, offering plenty of cabin stays, local attractions, and natural beauty.

Where I Stayed
For this trip, I rented a cozy cabin in Sevierville, a scenic area just outside Gatlinburg. The cabin had everything I needed to relax: a fireplace, a balcony with a hot tub, and stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains. It was the ideal place to unwind and take in the peaceful atmosphere of the Smokies.
What I Wore
Bringing in the New Year is the perfect excuse for all-black outfits, and I didn’t miss the chance to add some sparkles here and there. Since it was winter, I packed plenty of fleece-lined tights and paired them with T-shirt dresses, boots, and undershirts for layering. This combination was both stylish and practical for exploring the area in chilly weather.

Must-See Spots
While in Gatlinburg, I spent my time between relaxing at the cabin and exploring the nearby towns of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. My must-see spots for this trip were Anakeesta and Astra Lumina:
• Anakeesta: Anakeesta is an outdoor adventure park and nature escape perched atop a mountain, offering breathtaking views of the Smokies and a variety of activities for all ages. To get there, I opted for the scenic open-air chair lift instead of the bus line, which was super long. The ride up was peaceful and offered beautiful views, making it a great start to the adventure. Once at the top, you’ll find a treetop skywalk, ziplining, a mountain coaster, shopping, dining, and even a whimsical firefly village. It’s the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it a must-see spot in Gatlinburg.
• Astra Lumina: Astra Lumina felt like stepping into a dream. This immersive nighttime experience transforms the forest into a magical journey filled with lights, music, and storytelling. It’s best to go right after dark to fully enjoy the stunning visuals. Walking through the illuminated trails felt like being surrounded by stars, creating a deeply personal and almost otherworldly experience. If you’re visiting Gatlinburg, this is a can’t-miss event that will leave you in awe.
Food Highlights
One of the highlights of any trip is the food, and Gatlinburg didn’t disappoint. While there are plenty of local shops and restaurants to explore, the standout for me was Crockett’s Breakfast Camp.
The food here was incredible—comforting, hearty, and perfect for a chilly morning in the mountains. I highly recommend arriving early or checking if they offer an online queue, as it can get quite busy. The portions are generous, so you might consider sharing dishes like the pancakes or cinnamon rolls. And don’t leave without trying the hot chocolate—it’s rich, decadent, and an absolute must!

Travel Tips
Book in Advance: Tickets for attractions like Anakeesta and Astra Lumina sell out quickly, and lines for same-day purchases can be long. Reserve your spots ahead of time!
• Pack for the Weather: If you’re visiting in winter, fleece-lined clothing is a lifesaver.
• Share Plates: Restaurants like Crockett’s Breakfast Camp serve large portions, so sharing dishes can save you money and reduce food waste.

Gatlinburg is a great destination for anyone looking to relax, explore, and enjoy the beauty of the Smokies. Whether you’re staying in a cozy cabin, exploring unique attractions like Anakeesta, or indulging in delicious Southern food, this mountain town has something for everyone.
