April 2025

When we were kids, we spent summers away at camp, making memories we’d carry with us forever.

Well, if you’ve ever wondered where to find that magic as an adult, look no further than The Ozarker Lodge in Branson, Missouri—where relaxation and fun collide. Bonus points: it’s pet and family-friendly!

Where I Stayed

It turned out to be the perfect blend of relaxation and fun, with plenty of activities to keep us entertained. Outside, you’ll find fire pits, a heated pool, and soak tubs that offer serene views of the river—perfect for unwinding after a long week. Inside, there’s a cozy lounge area with a coffee and drinks bar, and an impressive collection of board games that took us back to childhood (I may have gotten a little too competitive with Candy Land!). We spent hours at that table playing checkers, Life, and chess—a true nostalgic experience.

What I Wore

Casual and cozy was the vibe here. I spent most of my time in comfy loungewear—think oversized sweaters, leggings, and sneakers (easy to slip on for spontaneous walks to the coffee bar!). The lodge’s laid-back feel had me in the mood to chill and fully embrace the “disconnect” mindset.

Must-See Spots

While we didn’t venture much into Branson itself, if you’re looking to explore, there are plenty of activities nearby. You could check out Silver Dollar City, an iconic theme park with rides, shows, and attractions. If you’re into history and crafts, the park’s 1880s-style village is a cool place to explore. That said, if you’re more in the mood for a staycation, the lodge offers everything you need to unwind and relax without leaving. The fire pits, soak tubs, and cozy games make it the perfect spot to stay in and disconnect.

Food Highlights

Branson is known for its catfish and BBQ, though we didn’t dive into that on this trip. Instead, we went for Fuddruckers, one of my all-time favorite burger spots (and one of the few left in the U.S.). Their scratch-made buns and seasoned burgers are worth the trip alone. We also had to try Hurts Donuts, which offered creative and airy donuts. If you’re a fan of sweet treats, this is a place you don’t want to miss.

Since we didn’t venture far for food, I’ll mention that Branson is known for its catfish and BBQ options, so if that’s up your alley, it’s definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in the area. We didn’t try it this time, but it’s on the list for next time!

Travel Tips

If you’re planning a trip to Branson, MO, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • The Ozarker Lodge is perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway—but if you’re looking to explore the town more, you might want to plan for a longer stay. We arrived on Saturday and left Monday afternoon, so we didn’t venture out too much.

  • Keep in mind the town’s vibe: While the lodge itself is welcoming and safe, Branson has a certain energy that some travelers might find off-putting. We noticed a few spots in the town, like a Trump store and military-themed shops, which gave us an uncomfortable “MAGAtwilight” vibe. While the lodge staff was super friendly, and we felt safe during our stay, it’s something to be aware of if you’re a person or family of color. Other travelers have referenced this vibe as well, so it’s good to keep it in mind when planning your trip.

Final Thoughts

The Ozarker Lodge offers a great escape with lots of fun activities—perfect for a weekend getaway where you can relax and have a little fun. While the town’s atmosphere wasn’t the most welcoming, we felt completely safe during our stay, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Overall, I’m so glad we chose this place for a quick mental reset before heading back to work. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with a touch of nostalgia, I highly recommend it—be sure to check out my vlog for more!
