Raleigh, NC

In a place where there are almost always events going on, it’s not hard to find something for just about everyone. I took a day trip to Raleigh with my brother and friends to explore the Art of the Brick Lego exhibit that they were having. What started as a trip to an exhibit ended in a day trip trying local restaurants.

Our Art of the Brick tickets were for 11:30 am. We got there around 15 early and got checked in at the front desk. From there, we spent about an hour walking through the self-guided exhibits trying to guess the number of blocks that were used. After that, we took a moment to heal our inner child by spending some time at their coloring station. They had a cool machine that lets you scan your coloring page in and have it displayed in a digital exhibit with the others.

After the exhibit, we were all hungry, so we went to a restaurant located in the same plaza as the art exhibit called Arepa Culture. Since my brother was with us, we were looking for options that would suit vegetarians as well as meat eaters, and this restaurant fit the bill. Our arepas were really good and filled in a way that didn’t make you feel groggy or tired. After that, we realized we wanted to stop by Two Roosters Icecream (my absolute favorite ice cream place in Raleigh), so we wasted some time shopping around before heading over.

Since I am allergic to most artificial fruits and flavors, I rarely get to have strawberry ice cream. Two Roosters has handmade ice cream with real ingredients. My favorite flavor is the Strawberry and Honey, but they have tons of other options as well. They have a lot of locations in Raleigh, but most of them have outdoor seating, which was perfect for the weather that day. After this, we were all exhausted, so we got on the road to head back home.

Art of the Brick will be in Raleigh until August 31, 2023. If you have time to stop by it is so worth it.
